Family Research Council Webcast: Sex Trafficking Event- March 15th

I’m honored to announce another opportunity I’ve been offered.

Family Research Council has invited me again to participate in a twitter event, Sex Trafficking in America: from The Boulevard to Planned Parenthood, on March 15th, 2011 at 11am PT/2pm ET. I will be tweeting live about speakers, interesting facts, and important information during the event.

It is important to note the danger of sex trafficking, as Planned Parenthood has made it clear that they would facilitate abortions for pimps and their clients.

Taken from the FRC event page:

Each year, right under our noses, 100,000 American children each year are victimized by sex traffickers. Make no mistake, this is not a problem that’s just “over there.” These heinous crimes are happening in our own backyards. A special live video webcast hosted by Family Research Council on Tuesday, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. ET will bring together leading experts shed light on this growing problem that affects every corner of our nation — from neighborhoods, playgrounds, and malls to the local Planned Parenthood clinic. You will also learn what actions you can take to help restore these victims, and stop those who prey on them.

Webcast participants include:

  • Tony Perkins, President, Family Research Council
  • J. Robert (Bob) Flores, former Administrator of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJD)
  • Lila Rose, President, Live Action
  • Pat Trueman, President, PornHarms.com and former Chief of the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Criminal Division, U. S. Department of Justice
  • Samantha Vardeman, Senior Director, Shared Hope International
  • Tina Frundt, Founder and Executive Director, Courtney’s House
  • Lisa Thompson, Liaison for the Abolition of Sexual Trafficking at The Salvation Army

This webcast will review many important issues- pro-life, pro-choice, prostitution and sex trafficking. Planned Parenthood – like all hospitals, medical facilities and doctor’s offices, is under the same protocol to report human trafficking. The one person, in the possibly edited Live Action video, has been fired, and Planned Parenthood reported the Live Action incidents to the FBI on January 24th, 2011.

There is a general lack of human trafficking training across the United States for social service providers, law enforcement, and health care providers. It is imperative that anyone who might come in contact with a human trafficking survivor be trained on the signs of trafficking and hotline, 1-888-3737-888.

Human trafficking is an issue that has no sides, and I have not met anyone that doesn’t want it to end, including Planned Parenthood employees. The Live Action incident is extremely divisive, and has caused a rift that can continue to grow and divide people and organizations who are working to end trafficking, or we can respectfully say that we are willing to find common ground and continue to move forward. In spite of any differences, it is possible to listen to each other, understand each other, and unite forces against sexual exploitation and labor trafficking.

A report in the American Journal of Nursing found that nurses and doctors had encountered 28% of 21 human trafficking survivors in the San Francisco, Los Angeles and Atlanta areas but did not recognize any of them as victims. The report authors suggest nurses watch for a series of signs among patients such as disorientation, physical abuse and depression that might indicate trafficking.http://www.smartbrief.com/news/ana/storyDetails.jsp?issueid=A360E960-2B48-4824-A1D8-9C2ACD464C6F&copyid=23A62EBD-629B-4169-A09B-88BAF061F603&campaign=twitter&ref=twitter23A62EBD-629B-4169-A09B-88BAF061F603

    Illegal Trafficking across International Boarders

According to a United Nation’s estimate, of the 800,000 persons illegally crossing international boarders annually, 70 % are women.

    Possible reason ?

Of the 1.4 billion people living on less than $ 1 a day, 70 per cent are women and girls

May be for them, serving a jail-term in a foreign country is far better then starving in their own country !

    With regards
