Run for the Unborn: Why Private Charity Best Uplifts People

This morning, my sister Anna Maria and I participated in our very first 5K run to benefit a local pregnancy crisis center in Leesburg, VA. This race marked the 4th Annual “Run for the Unborn.” Although it was hot and humid, we had a great time jogging to support a cause we believe in.
When individuals desire to better their communities, the best method is through private charity. Find a cause you believe in and voluntarily give back. Don’t rely on the government to provide for general welfare; instead, discern carefully and give people a hand up.
“…[T]he government of the United States is a definite government, confined to specified objects. It is not like the state governments, whose powers are more general. Charity is no part of the legislative duty of the government.”
