When in Doubt About President Obama and His Ilk, Talk to Soviet Immigrants

As the daughter of Lithuanian immigrants, I feel compelled to advance conservatism against all odds. Growing up, I had the opportunity to listen to family stories and anecdotes about the Old County and the harsh conditions it wrought on my parents, grandparents, and others. It is simultaneously intriguing and depressing.  From this, I am grateful to be American and free.

I like to believe that I have an advantage over my peers about what it means to value freedom, given my being first-generation American. As a result, I’m confident my testimony on conservatism and Obama’s reign can help my peers wake up.

Nevertheless, I look to Soviet immigrants like my dad and his fellow outspoken compatriots for the truth behind the mess going on now.

My father has been instrumental in cultivating us (my sister and I) into conservatives. He hated communism and wanted to live in America since childhood. Here are his thoughts about President Obama, the Democratic Party, and Marxist-Leninists:

My father is not the only former Soviet refugee speaking out against Obama and Marxist-Leninism.

Vladimir Jaffe, a member of the NYC Tea Party, confronted the Occupy Wall Street loons and discovered their affinity for communism/socialism:

Most recently, Larry Weinstein of Los Angeles, CA, ventured to “Occupy Los Angeles and discovered the same people with the same disturbing thoughts:

On the 94th anniversary of the Russian Revolution (November 7) an ex-Soviet visits Occupy LA to videotape & report to his Russian friends if Americans started their own Socialist Revolution

When in doubt about Democrats, President Obama, RINOs, and Marxist-Leninists, talk to former residents of the now-defunct USSR. Heck, talk to immigrants from Germany, Czech Republic, Cuba, Vietnam, and other nations previously or currently afflicted by communism.

Repost–Nightmares of my father: Back to the USSR?

My father is terrified of living in the U.S.S.R. again. This time, it is under Obama.

Read a repost of my Cal Review article on The Washington Times Communities section- March 2nd, 2011.

Immigrants Who Fled Fmr USSR Openly Compare Dem Party to Communists

From AP

If you have met me personally, you know that I cannot stand communism, Soviet-style politics, and the like. Everyone who knows me (to some extent) is aware that it makes my blood boil when socialism and communism are praised. Since I was old enough to comprehend basic things, I understood that the Democratic Party was unfriendly to freedom and individuality.

I wrote about the Democratic Party’s embrace of Soviet communism in my article, “Nightmares of My Father: Back to the USSR?”

People have told me I am crazy for making such an assumption. Why don’t you try having family killed, sent to GULAGs, and starved by Russian communists? Before you think highly of Russian communism, please talk to me, my parents, and those who understand how communists operate. You will be enlightened.

Nevertheless, it is a relief to see other immigrants from the former USSR exposing the Democratic Party.

Fox Nation gives a preview of the article here:

Many Russian immigrants to the “red borough” of Staten Island are flocking to the Republican Party, saying that the national Democrats’ “socialistic” policies remind them too much of the top-down oligarchy they fled in their native land.

With many of the borough’s Russian arrivees already owning businesses and active in civic organizations, their muscle could help the Island GOP solidify electoral gains made this year, when the party took back congressional and Assembly seats.

Silive has the full report on  Russian immigrants aligning with the GOP.

25 Years in America: A Tribute to My Lithuanian Parents

On January 9th, 1986, my parents came to the United States from Lithuania by way of Italy. Having left the former USSR in late 1985, they chose Italy as their last European stop in their quest for freedom.

Before the fall of the Berlin Wall, it was very difficult for people to escape from behind the Iron Curtain. Doing so entailed many risks–even jeopardizing one’s life. Nevertheless, my parents bought their way to freedom and eventually came to California. Shortly afterward, they got their citizenship (legally) and assimilated to the American way of life.

As a first-generation Lithuanian-American, I’m especially thankful for the freedoms afforded to me. If I were born in Lithuania, I wouldn’t have the same opportunities granted to me here in the United States. My sister Anna Maria and I are pictured above at the Lithuania exhibit in Balboa Park, San Diego.

My heritage is what fuels my conservative views. My parents taught me to value freedom, capitalism, limited government, traditional values, and American ideals. I am indebted to them for raising me RIGHT!

People should look to immigrants from formerly and currently oppressed countries for guidance. My parents faced many limitations in Lithuania, which were greatly attributed to communist rule and control in Lithuania. Hearing them talk about their experiences shaped my worldview; it could shape yours too.

It is immigrants like my parents who make this country great. Never underestimate the wisdom and experiences they bring with them from their former homelands.
