Santorum is First Candidate to Agree to Student-Led Presidential Symposium at Hillsdale

Late last night, the Hillsdale Collegian broke a story about Rick Santorum confirming his spot in the first-ever student-led presidential symposium. The event will take place at Hillsdale College on Monday night.

Santorum had these words to say about Monday’s event:

“I am excited to share my  vision for a brighter America, and the life experiences that have helped shape those  positions,” Santorum said.

Hillsdale senior Elliot Gaiser, who will moderate the symposium, shared his thoughts about the event and its goals.

“My hope is this will shine a bright light on what candidates believe about the Constitution, and influence the presidential race to focus on the document we expect our next president to protect and defend,” Gaiser said.

The three other presidential candidates have not confirmed nor denied their participation. Nevertheless, Hillsdale College plans to make history next week with this event.

My Findings at “Occupy San Diego” — Yes, They Are Misfits, Goons, and Idiots

Today, The Rick Amato Show ventured to “Occupy San Diego”. Rick, our producer Sutton, yours truly (executive assistant) and several of our friends encountered socialists, communists, anti-Semities, and frankly, stinky people.

Rick was asked to speak today after he criticized the “Occupy Wall Street” movement as one that harbors and equally emboldens “misfits, goons, and idiots.” He accepted their invitation to speak and here is what we discovered.

Below is Civic Plaza in downtown San Diego, where the “Occupy San Diego” event took place.

Of course, how could we escape the anti-Semites?

Don’t forget the eco-fanatics either!

In journalistic fashion, I’ve included videos from the event, ranging from Rick Amato’s Tea Party speech to select interviews with event goers.

This video highlights the purpose of “Occupy San Diego”:

Below is Rick Amato’s entire speech:

Additionally, we interviewed several ” Occupy San Diego” attendees.

The first guy does not understand the term “small government.” Instead, he maligns capitalism with fascist African governmental systems:

The second guy admits to being a self-hating capitalist below:

Remember, socialism and communism do make us equal–equal in poverty and misery.

My parents endured communism in the former USSR in the Baltic Republic of Lithuania. Fortunately, they escaped nearly 26 years ago and came here to California. In their former homeland, they had no freedom. Most pointedly, they were subjected to food rationing, religious intolerance (both Mom and Dad), institutionalized anti-Semitism (Dad), poverty, universal healthcare, and exorbitantly high taxes. To set the record straight: Communism reduces people to human debris.

In contrast, the United States is the freest place in the world. You can start a business, live without fear, freely practice religion, go to university, and make money. What other nation ensures this success and happiness?

These people need to stop scapegoating capitalism (and Jews). Instead, they should go after President Obama, Jeff Immelt, George Soros, and the crony capitalists in Wall Street–not capitalism itself. Unfortunately, “Occupy Wall Street” apologists are being exploited by leftists and have become their useful idiots. Time will tell if they will wake up and ingest some common sense.

Stay tuned for updates from San Diego and California.

‘Restoring Courage’ in Israel Rally…Coming to An American City Near You!

In conjunction with Glenn Beck’s ‘Restoring Courage’ Rally in Israel this August, Nicole J. Pearce and I have decided to start a grassroots movement to recruit conservative and pro-Israel activists to host rallies all over America to accompany this event.

Here’s more from Glenn Beck about the ‘Restoring Courage’ rally in Jerusalem:

Now that Obama has thrown Israel under the bus with proposed plans to facilitate the redrawing of Israel’s pre-1967 borders, it is critical that everyone who is pro-Israel get involved. It is also imperative for everyone to stand up for our nation and our allies.

To learn if your state is hosting a rally or if you want to spearhead a rally, be sure to check out our website to learn how to get involved: Restoring Courage US: http://restoringcourageus.com.

States with rallies planned so far: California, Florida, Texas, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Georgia, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, and Oregon.

Being Conservative (and Female) Rocks

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of going to Clare Boothe Luce’s Western Women’s Summit (March 24-26) in beautiful Santa Barbara, California. Due to complications following my wisdom tooth surgery last year, I couldn’t attend the Summit in 2010. Nevertheless, I made up for my absence this year

This girl needs a vacation every now and then, so I decided, why not?

CBLPI’s Western Women’s Summit took place at the Reagan Ranch Center–YAF’s West Coast office and my former workplace. It was nice to return there for this occasion.

Here is information about the event that transpired last weekend:

Mark your calendars now for the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute‘s fourth annual Western Women’s Summit on March 25-26, 2011! Conservative women are stepping into leadership roles in this country more than ever before, so don’t miss your chance to be a part of the movement. At this exciting gathering of conservative women on the West Coast, you will meet and network with conservatives in your area, hear from dynamic speakers and learn how to fight for conservative principles. Speakers include: author S.E. Cupp; Teresa Scanlan, Miss America 2011; Keli Carender, National Coordinator of the Tea Party Patriots; Ann McElhinney; conservative filmmaker; and Dawn Wildman, California Tea Party Patriots. The Summit will take place in beautiful Santa Barbara, California and will include a private tour of President Ronald Reagan‘s former home, a picturesque ranch located in the hills of Santa Barbara. A welcome reception for attendees will take place at the Reagan Ranch Center on the evening of Thursday, March 24. The Summit is open to women of all ages and will include a special training seminar for college students. Men may attend as guests of registered women attendees. Please email the Summit coordinator Camille Hart with any questions at chart@cblpi.org.

Nonie Darwish also spoke as well, and gave a riveting speech about the dangers of Sharia Law.

Approximately 75 women (young and old activists alike) were in attendance.

Below is our group photo with Miss America 2011, Teresa Scanlan.

While many are quick to judge Miss America recipients, I will say that after spending the weekend talking to her and hanging out with Teresa Scanlan, this Miss America is a gem and down-to-Earth girl. She eats, contrary to popular belief, and is so passionate about combating eating disorders. Additionally, she is very conservative!

Teresa gave such a heartwarming speech about her Croatian heritage and family story. Her grandparents endured communism in Croatia before they immigrated to the United States. She emphasized how much she takes pride in their value system and how she’s incorporated their value system as her own. Additionally, Teresa revealed that she has brother that was put up for adoption by her  mother. She noted that after 31 years (last September) she and her family met her brother and didn’t hesitate to accept him into their family. Miss America 2011 was a lovely girl, and I wish her the best of luck in her endeavors!

Moreover, RedEye regular and FOX News Contributor S.E. Cupp was the keynote speaker for the Summit. My sister Anna Maria and I are pictured with her below:

Overall, I learned a lot of valuable things, listened to great speakers, met lovely girls, talked to donors, and enjoyed Santa Barbara. I encourage everyone to attend a Western Women’s Summit in the future–you don’t want to miss out on this opportunity!
