TEA Party Movement Arrives in Israel

Although this is from October 31st, 2010, I thought it was appropriate to bring this development into light.

Many people are largely unaware of a burgeoning TEA Party Movement in Israel. Haaretz reports:

Movement is not a breakaway from Netanyahu’s party, Likud MK and organizer says, but is meant to help PM reject Obama’s pressure to bend to Palestinian conditions for peace talks.

Additionally, the Jerusalem Post noted this hallmark event in Tel Aviv as a sign that this great American ally is not happy with Obama’s deliberate efforts to undermine it.

For the most part, speakers avoided focusing on the personage of Obama. Instead they spoke of his policies “pushing” Israel to make concessions despite the lack of a reliable Palestinian partner.

One exception was Kara, who said the discovery of two letter bombs sent from Yemen to Jewish communities in America on Friday showed “that the policies of Obama are helping Osama.”

Hotovely also took issue with Obama’s policies.

“You [Obama] are confused, you don’t understand who your friends are and who your enemies area. We are your friends, not the Islamic radicals. We know what happens to people who don’t know who their friends are, just look at World War II and those who held their hand out to Hitler,” she said.

Even groups are emerging in Spain and Italy! As a result, it is a force to be reckoned with.

Masters of America’s Destiny? You Betcha

If you thought conservatives did not have swagger, then you were mistaken. Youth representation in the Conservative Movement is clearly needed more than ever. We are lucky enough to embrace small bastions here on the Left Coast and in other blue states. Nevertheless, there is hope–and it lies in the Northeast with this instance.

If you have not heard about The Young Cons yet, you are missing out!

Two strapping gentlemen from Dartmouth College–Josh “Stiltz”‘ Riddle and Dave “Serious C” Rufful–are uncanny, yet clever in delivering the conservative message. Who would have thought that two guys could rap eloquently about the importance of human life, free market principles, traditional values, limited government, Ronald Reagan, anti-communist sentiments, and the Founding Fathers? To get a better picture of these awesome activists, read here:

The Young Cons are conservative activists, division one college basketball players, Ivy League students, editors for The Dartmouth Review, rappers, bloggers, and co-founders of the 7,800-member Young Conservatives Facebook group. We have a mission to spread the love and logic surrounding true conservatism. In a technological era driven fiercely by the main stream media, those who vocalize the true conservative message of individual responsibility, moral absolutes, and small government are slanted as intolerant, racist, “bible and gun clinging”, corporate fat cats who could not care less about the environment nor the well being of their fellow man. Our group proves otherwise. Our performances are meant to be entertaining, combining both humor with serious commentary. In a day where conservatives are seen as close-minded and archaic, we bring a new perspective to a long-standing philosophy. Instead of sinking into the assemblage of the self-satisfied, we challenge the hearts and minds of Americans with lyrics that expose the true agenda of big government.

Here is their breakout video that landed them on Huckabee, The O’Reilly Factor, Fox & Friends, The Strategy Room, Fox Nation, HBO’s Realtime, VH1′s Best Week Ever, and various tea parties:

Newsweek briefly profiled The Young Cons in an article centered on a Washington, D.C. victory party on Tuesday, where they performed their new single, “Master of My Destiny.” The video beckons to be made viral, so do your part and spread it around?

I am proud to belong to a group of today’s movers-and-shakers in the Conservative Movement. Josh and Dave are proven examples that the conservative message can be delivered in a hip, fun and intelligent manner. They are forces to be reckoned with.

Watch out, America! More Young Cons are coming your way.

Follow them on twitter @YoungCons, “like”/join The Young Cons on facebook, YouTube channel, and buy their songs on iTunes.

Gabriella HoffmanThis past summer, I had the pleasure of being one of four Sarah T. Hermann Intern Scholars with Young America’s Foundation at the Reagan Ranch Center in Santa Barbara, California. While interning with the premiere organization for cultivating the Conservative Movement’s future leaders, I witnessed firsthand how successful and how instrumental Young America’s Foundation is with keeping the conservative spirit alive. I learned many valuable principles and took advantage of the innumerable resources afforded to me for my campus activism and my career in the Conservative Movement. Not only did I get to relish working in a beautiful—albeit liberal—city and trips to President Reagan’s beloved Rancho del Cielo, my fellow West Coast interns and I also went to the 32nd Annual National Conservative Student Conference in Washington, D.C., August 2nd-7th, 2010.  Additionally, I assisted with the Advancing Freedom in an Era of New Socialism seminar on July 15-17th, 2010, the 29th celebration of Reagan’s tax cuts, and Wendy P. McCaw Roundtable Luncheons for Ben Stein and Marc Short.

When I first came to Reagan Ranch Center, I was fresh out of my first year of college and already familiar with Young America’s Foundation after they helped me bring David Horowitz to UCSD. Prior to college, I had acquainted myself with their bureau of conservative speakers and programs retrofitted for college and high school students. Yet, I never imagined myself working for them in any capacity early on. What better way to get your start in the Conservative Movement than with an internship with Young America’s Foundation?

It is not cliché to say that working with Young America’s Foundation provides one with an experience unlike any other. Not only do you get to with work with a great staff, have many resources, and relish a great environment, an intern with Young America’s Foundation gets to meet and talk with well-known conservative figures and up-and-coming activists. I was afforded the chance to talk with Michael Reagan, Rich Lowry, Fred Thompson, Kate Obenshain, Ann McElhinney, and Marji Ross—to name a few—and get their advice on how to traverse into the Conservative Movement. Additionally, I met fellow conservative activists at seminars and conferences, only to come out with life-long friends and cohorts from all over the United States and Europe. Your time with Young America’s Foundation will be unrivaled to any other experience out there!

If you want a head start in the Conservative Movement, interning with Young America’s Foundation is the best avenue. You will come out a stronger activist. You will network with the top players of the Conservative Movement. You will create friendships that last forever. Choose Young America’s Foundation and begin your career in the Conservative Movement!

Jumanah Albahri Writes Another Letter to the Editor Filled With Lies

Taken from the Horowitz Freedom Center:

Jumanah Albahri, the UC-San Diego Student who publicly admitted that she was “for” the gathering of all Jews in Israel so that they could meet their untimely doing,” has submitted a letter to the UCSD Guardian. Her doublespeak and false claims speak for itself.

Dear Editor,

Your abysmal coverage of Justice in Palestine Week and the Horowitz fiasco reeks of Hearstian and Horowitzian journalism.

While you sought to clarify my answer in your May 20 article entitled “Students Clash Anew Over Israeli-Palestinian Conflicts,” you chose not to qualify it with my position. I will do you a favor and quote it from my statement directly. “My opinion of Hamas is not as simple as condemn or condone, for it or against it. I firmly believe that the killing of civilians, even as collateral damage regardless of creed, politics, sexuality, nationality or ethnicity is one of the highest crimes in the eyes of God and is morally reprehensible and abhorrent.”

Secondly, Hezbollah is not a Palestinian faction – it is Lebanese. Hamas (regardless of its designation as a terrorist organization by Israel and the U.S.) is neither genocidal nor Holocaust-denying. This is simply evident in Yale University’s copy of Article 20 of the Covenant of the Islamic Resistance Movement, which analogizes Israel’s treatment of Palestinians to Nazi treatment of Jews, and Article Six, which calls for the establishment of a Palestinian state where people of all religions can coexist in peace. Your fact-checking should at least consist of Googling either organization’s name.

Young Americans for Freedom chairwoman Gabriella Hoffman is quoted saying that she feels hurt that I would want to kill her and other Jews. Barzilay claims that the apartheid wall makes her feel “alienated” and demands that I apologize. These individuals have no right to speak of hurt, alienation or apology whatsoever. It was Hoffman, acting as chair of Young Americans for Freedom, who invited and introduced David Horowitz. It was Barzilay’s organization, Tritons for Israel, which initially tri-sponsored the event and had many of its members in attendance. Those students were not threatened or preoccupied by my supposed “racist” sentiments. When I left, one member followed me out, brushed aside my attempts at clarification and admitted that she knew I had misspoken, given Horowitz’s reputation.

Horowitz was not invited to present any argument or engage in constructive dialogue – rather, he was brought because of his reputation for racism and hatemongering against Arabs and Muslims. If anyone can claim alienation or marginalization, it’s me. For the university to allow him to set foot on my campus using my student fees is a slap in my face and a slap in the face of all other non-Jewish minorities on this campus. Need more proof? Google this article: “Guns Don’t Kill Black People, Other Blacks Do.” Tell me: Who needs to apologize now?

As far as the sense of “alienation” that the apartheid wall heralds: The panels and speakers criticized the Israeli government, not the Jewish people. Professors and lecturers at this university urge us to examine our own government. Why should the university or A.S. Council entertain the notion that the Israeli government is holier than our own and beyond reproach?

The voices of the Palestinian people have been silenced by the mainstream media for too long, and I refuse to silence my own voice to appease the twisted politics of the pro-Israel communities on and off campus.

Help Young Conservatives Fight Liberal Injustices With Your Support!

Hi everyone!

Thank you to those who have viewed my introduction speech and to those of you who supported (and continue to do so) us in this ordeal versus Islamofascism and political correctness following the David Horowitz event. I truly appreciate your attention and concern for our likelihood here at UCSD and with Young Americans for Freedom, as with the nation as a whole. It is instrumental that the youth be supported in this grave time in our nation’s history with the takeover of socialists, communists, and progressives.

If you’d like for our cause to be further outreached and grown, please consider donating to our cause at www.yaf.com. It is especially difficult to garner any finances in this critical time, and like any promising cause, we need the funds in order to have speakers and the RIGHT perspective at UCSD. Anything you give to us, regardless of the type of support, is greatly appreciated. Please confide in us here at UCSD YAF for curing society’s liberal ills. To combat this evil and fend it off permanently, we need a solid foundation in funds, membership, and support.

Thank you for everything and G-d bless!

Best regards,

Gabriella Hoffman

From Conservative to Conservative:A Plea for Help to Glenn Beck

Dear Glenn Beck and Staff,

I write to you in urgent need of help. As a follower of your program, I have watched closely how dangerous Obama and his affiliates are. I am the daughter of Lithuanian immigrants that left the former U.S.S.R. to come to the United States for its freedom and opportunities. Obama and his “beautiful” change have put our nation in a vulnerable spot, and have transformed our republic into a communistic entity! This is unheard of and wrong. From my youth and beyond, my father did me justice in educating me about the ills and woes of communism, and any of its variants. Seeing teachers strike in elementary school provided such an understanding as to why teacher’s unions and subsequent efforts to get more money (even with tenure and well-entrenched pensions) are unheard of and socialistic. Watching Fox News for over ten years exposed me to fair and balanced reporting, and T.V. personalities like Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, you, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Michelle Malkin, and other noteworthy conservatives that have inspired me to be a conservative activist and columnist.

Yet, my most urgent concern in writing to you is in how we can combat the arrival of Van Jones at UCSD. Infamous green czar and unrepentant communist Van Jones will be speaking at my university, UC-San Diego, this May 11th, 2010 in its Helen Edison Lecture series. Talk about crazy and obscene! Just to invite a guy like this with his track record and virulent antics is wrong on all principles. Our universities administration will allow this to happen, and there won’t be any counter-opinion to expose him except for my club, Young Americans for Freedom, the College Republicans at UCSD, Young Americans for Liberty at UCSD, tea party enthusiasts from Southern California, and other patriots. To counter this, we have invited David Horowitz of FrontPage Magazine and his respective Freedom Center to come speak at our school for this occasion, why it’s important to preserve academic free speech, and to talk about the ills of Islamo-fascism. During the week of May 10th until May 14th, there will be a heavy bout of liberalism at UCSD with Israeli Apartheid Week and Van Jones, but with having David Horowitz, we can impart the alternative position on campus.

We need someone with your expertise to help us successfully expose Van Jones at UCSD. I am working tirelessly to organize a protest, hand-out fliers, write column pieces/articles about the event, attend and ask questions, and attempt to educate my peers during the process. Any wisdom or help you can impart to us would be much appreciated. We here in California enjoy the great service you are doing for the United States of American with your T.V. and radio programs.

Sincerely,

Gabriella Hoffman

UCSD LogoFrom sunny and charming La Jolla, California, I bring rather daunting and implicating news about the attack on free speech at UCSD. For the past several weeks, UCSD students have faced ramifications of a situation taken way too far.  From the Compton Cookout to the Associated Students of UCSD’s injunction on cutting media organization funds to the hanging of a noose in Geisel Library to the display of a Ku Klux Klan hood on the Theodor Seuss Geisel statue, a lot of things have transpired on my campus for the worst. Yet, the only media outlet at UCSD exposing the truth behind these calamities is The California Review, the conservative paper whose editor-in-chief, Alec Weisman, is attributed for such excellent and fair reporting of the incidents.

The controversy began with the Compton Cookout party, which was held off campus in mid-February and hosted by DJ Jiggaboo Jones, and was intended to mock Black History Month. The event called for guys and gals to wear gold teeth and “ghetto” fashion. The drive-by media fails to account for the fact that the host, Jones, was black, stating that “racist” members from various UCSD fraternities were instrumental in causing the Compton Cookout. Yet, the university made a big deal about the event, sending out several e-mails denouncing the incident. Nevertheless, matters only got worst as the Associated Students went after our infamous satiric paper, The Koala, and subsequently imposed a collective punishment on all UCSD student-run media organizations.

The Koala, which is a publication that mocks all groups, is known for its outrageous material. The Associated Students of UCSD first got on The Koala’s case after they mocked the death of a UCSD pole-vaulter in early fall quarter. Furthermore, The Koala mocked the reaction to the Compton Cookout by praising it and calling members of the Black Student Union, “ungrateful n——,” on student run television where The Koala broadcasts a show that follows the same style as their paper.

Liberals on campus are arguing that The Koala’s “offensive speech” which pokes fun at groups on campus should have their speech restricted because this form of speech threatens their “well-being.”  The Koala follows the same satirical style as many shows on Comedy Central, but do you see liberals calling for its shutdown? On February 18, 2010, the Associated Students placed a moratorium on funds for media organizations, which has spurred many on campus to fight to protect free speech. Basically, all the student-run newspapers suffered collective punishment from the action of the Associated Students regardless of their past actions. Assistance from FIRE and the ACLU has successfully encouraged Chancellor Marye Ann Fox to reinstate funds for media organizations. Both FIRE and the ACLU have noted that the UCSD administration will face subsequent legal action with the help of consul if they do not reinstate funding.

As a response to the Compton Cookout and The Koala’s exercise of individual albeit controversial opinion, the Black Student Union drafted a list of 32 demands for the university to adopt. They called for Chancellor Marye Ann Fox to implement various “racial improvements,” along with citing their concerns about their well-being. Other demands included a separate space for black students to convene peacefully, the necessity for an African-American and Chicano studies minor, and a “holistic approach” when it comes to university admissions (a.k.a. racial preferences), among many other demands. As of March 3rd, 2010, the UCSD Administration has acquiesced to pressures from the Black Student Union and is working to implement their demands.

Conservatives, liberals, and apathetic students at UCSD I talked with in various classes and gatherings were appalled by this list, which gives great preferential treatment to one group of students. Higher education should emphasize merit, initiative, and talent, not promote preferences based on one’s race. There are plenty of minority students here at UCSD who do not rely on the color of their skin to get ahead.  Enough of this manufactured racial divide which divides us and creates lowered standards.

To fellow conservatives college students: I urge you, as a fellow activist, to not let liberals dominate your campus, tell you lies, and undermine you because you hold  conservative ideas. Keep a copy of the Constitution in your pocket, and put it to use when someone tries to infringe upon your rights. There has to be a variety of opinions expressed on college campuses, and not just liberalism. Expose the truth, and do not let anyone deter you from preserving America’s values. If the American laws are so racist and unjust as the Left would have you believe, then why do people flock to our nation from all around the world—legally and illegally? This fine nation has afforded equal opportunities to everyone regardless of their nationality, race, gender, and viewpoints to pursue their own personal goals, dreams, and aspirations. Please do not forget that!

Young Americans for Freedom’s Sharon Statement (A Must Read for Conservative Activists!)

As a member to YAF, I am grateful to work in defense of conservative values best proscribed by William F. Buckley, Jr, father of the modern-day Conservative Movement. Be sure to read it and embrace this message in its entirety!

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Sharon Statement

“Adopted in Conference, at Sharon, Connecticut, on September 11, 1960.”

IN THIS TIME of moral and political crises, it is the responsibility of the youth of America to affirm certain eternal truths.

WE, as young conservatives believe:

THAT foremost among the transcendent values is the individual’s use of his God-given free will, whence derives his right to be free from the restrictions of arbitrary force;

THAT liberty is indivisible, and that political freedom cannot long exist without economic freedom;

THAT the purpose of government is to protect those freedoms through the preservation of internal order, the provision of national defense, and the administration of justice;

THAT when government ventures beyond these rightful functions, it accumulates power, which tends to diminish order and liberty;

THAT the Constitution of the United States is the best arrangement yet devised for empowering government to fulfill its proper role, while restraining it from the concentration and abuse of power;

THAT the genius of the Constitution – the division of powers – is summed up in the clause that reserves primacy to the several states, or to the people in those spheres not specifically delegated to the Federal government;

THAT the market economy, allocating resources by the free play of supply and demand, is the single economic system compatible with the requirements of personal freedom and constitutional government, and that it is at the same time the most productive supplier of human needs;

THAT when government interferes with the work of the market economy, it tends to reduce the moral and physical strength of the nation, that when it takes from one to bestow on another, it diminishes the incentive of the first, the integrity of the second, and the moral autonomy of both;

THAT we will be free only so long as the national sovereignty of the United States is secure; that history shows periods of freedom are rare, and can exist only when free citizens concertedly defend their rights against all enemies…

THAT the forces of international Communism are, at present, the greatest single threat to these liberties;

THAT the United States should stress victory over, rather than coexistence with this menace; and

THAT American foreign policy must be judged by this criterion: does it serve the just interests of the United States?
