Villains in America and The First Amendment

Many Americans have awoken from a deep slumber to realize that something fundamentally wrong is playing out in this great nation. Of course, the largest threat comes from this administration’s obvious attempts to transform our country into a socialist one by nationalizing banks and car companies, weakening the country’s security by investigating the C.I.A. unfairly, incriminating American servicemen and veterans, indoctrinating the youth to supporting the president’s agenda, and destroying the constitutional underpinnings in which our country was founded. The double standard commonplace in liberalism espouses two sets of rules in respect to the First Amendment: one for them, one for the rest of us.Whatever liberals support is the best and correct opinion to cling to, while whatever their political opponents decry is shameful, derogatory or downright wrong.

Because of these fundamental changes conservatives, Republicans, and Americans alike are discontented with what is occurring in regard to the First Amendment.Sure, they sincerely believe that it is wrong that liberals can denounce their political opponents and simply get away with it in respect to expression, and vice versa. Yet, they often do not understand its underlying factor of why it persists, and have accordingly failed to understand it. Renowned ambulance chaser and former vice presidential candidate John Edwards (D-NC), the “true embodiment” of a politician, had a point when he retorted the fact that there are “two Americas.” Although his fabrication of two Americas elucidated a “one rich, one poor” mantra, he was admittedly right about a truly divided America, just one he failed to acknowledge.

Liberals, in accordance with their principle of “equality of results,” chastise the premises of the first amendment allowing no opposition or room for debate; in other words, the method to their madness is to control every sector in society.

Using their freedom of speech, Americans can voice their opinions and criticize the government through expression, symbolism, and nonverbal communication. Although raucus, the peaceful health care town hall debates and tea parties have been heavily criticized by our liberal counterparts for being “abusive” to free speech. As the ‘brilliant’ Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi put it, “These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American.” The double standard once again settles in. Last time I checked, this Administration and its cronies have led a full-fledged fight to limit opposition to its agenda, even going so far as to encourage its supporters to report “the opposition” by tipping the White House at Free speech is only free for liberals, not conservatives.

Now, freedom of petition and freedom of assembly are at stake. As anyone would have learned from a high school US history class, this clause stresses citizens’ right to assemble peacefully, to hold rallies and demonstrations, and to petition the government for changes in policy. The tea parties and healthcare town hall meetings, which were peacefully mobilized by ordinary, concerned American citizens, have been libelously tarnished as “hate-mongering” bodies, or merely as not credible and thus “Astroturf.” At the same time protests spearheaded by extreme liberal proponents like Code Pink or ACORN are emblematic examples of “peaceful protest.”

Freedom of the press is also under attack. With prospective plans to resurrect the Fairness Doctrine, as Federal Communications Commission diversity advisor Mark Lloyd intends to do, “the left is attempting to tight[en] its grip on the news, possibly asphyxiating the few bastions of center-right news and information that exist…the doctrine required that networks and broadcast radio stations air opposing views that satisfied federal bureaucrats’ conception of ‘fairness.’” That would mean that the largest generators of radio listeners like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and Mark Levin will be shut down and replaced by liberal radio hosts and by those who meet the “qualifications” of the FCC.

Freedom of religion is always a sensitive issue, a fact which the 1st amendment’s free exercise and establishment clauses have brought into light. Every now and then, we hear that our nation is a predominantly Muslim one, although the United States has been long-grounded as a Judeo-Christian one, some liberal groups are Godless, and will try to do and use any tactic to destroy American culture which is based upon Judeo-Christian principles.

It is imperative that American citizens of all faiths, political persuasions, ethnic backgrounds, social stature, ages, and genders have a God-given right to unite and join forces against liberals who are eager to destroy the fundamental core values instilled in our nation by the Founding Fathers. Exercise your First Amendment rights by standing up, being courteous yet firm, and joining the movement to take our country back. The American dream is still thriving, and no one can take that moral anchor away from us.

9-12 Tea Parties in Southern California

On September 12th, 2009, I had the pleasure of attending a TEA party in San Juan Capistrano in partnership with Glenn Beck’s 912 Project. Being that this was the only major event to storm Orange County in a while, it was the opportune moment to convene with others equally concerned about the path our nation is heading in. The South OC 912 Project organized this marvelous event to unite Americans from all walks of life for a common cause: discontent for the cultural transformation playing out today, dissatisfaction with the Administration’s plans for virtual takeover of our lives, and the lack of accountability held by the politicians who were and are supposed to work on our behalf (not theirs).

Being my first TEA party, the San Juan Capistrano affair was a successful event. My parents, who hail from Lithuania (a country once oppressed by the Soviet Union) and sister showed their support for the event by holding signs, actively participating, and relishing on the fact that Americans understand that a communist system could and should never work in America. Fellow UCSD College Republicans Alec Weisman (and editor of the California Review), Richard Davis, and Misty Tienken came as well and stood with their fellow Americans in a celebration of 9/12/01, a day which was marked by unity after that fateful day. People were passionate about our country and held a high regard for patriotism, family, values, limited government, and the like. The OC Register reports that about 1,000 people were in attendance (although estimates of about 2,000 have been circulating), and excitement was greatly showcased during the event. Adults and some young conservatives were in attendance, although being Orange County one would think that more people would have come…Speakers like Chuck DeVore, Bill Hunt, Shawn Black sure got most of the limelight, but it was a speech presented by Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson that resonated the most in my mind. He touched basis on the fundamental issues at hand in this weary time, and came across as the most meaningful and genuine. Overall, the San Juan Capistrano TEA party communicated the air Glenn Beck urged Americans to evince six months ago: one of dedication, common sense, and love for the United States of America.

Americans need not hesitate to stand up and speak against the debauchery playing out in Washington, D.C.. With more tea parties and opinions expressed, we can restore the greatness of America endowed by our Founding Fathers.

Nightmares of My Father: Back to the U.S.S.R.?

Impending bailouts of privatized companies and banks. Impending plans for socialized health care. Impending threats to freedom of speech. With these dramatic shifts to a more centrally-planned market, society and government, the perils of a left-leaning society are imminent as my father predicted. A man formerly oppressed under the Soviet regime in the Baltic Republic of Lithuania, my father has grown weary of the country he has adopted as his homeland. He envisioned the United States as a place of economic prosperity marked by few barriers, a place of freedom to pursue anything with no persecution and a place to create a business with few restrictions. Yet, the recent actions of the Obama Administration have confirmed my father’s belief that the government and the Democratic Party have adopted principles known to be detrimental to society.

As the prime source of my conservative upbringing, my father has chided against all the ulterior motives posed by liberals, who largely resemble the communist leaders that he encountered when living in Lithuania. If I ever were to be brainwashed into liberal dogma, then he would have failed to raise me accordingly. My father had stressed his desire to come to a country without any impending fear of Soviet infiltration, that being any talk of encroaching on human rights, values, and individualism. He never thought that Soviet-style socialism could infiltrate a great country like the United States. Yet, the possibility of going “back to the U.S.S.R.” appears likely if Republicans, conservatives, and Americans alike do not rise up and take a stance on the direction our country is heading in.

The United States has been a country that ensures “life, liberty, and property” as the Declaration of Independence postulates. The rightful place of the United States government is to “secure liberty, not seize it” as Rush Limbaugh puts it, in respect to the wise words of our Founding Fathers. In this critical time, true conservatives understand the great threat to America liberalism presents. Advocating soft punishment for criminals, levying too many taxes, spending excessively, to name a few, would make our Founding Fathers turn in their graves. To prevent such from happening, Americans must rise up and say “No” to any unnecessary changes that our Congress is making without the consent of its constituents. As the true purveyors of values, liberties and customs, conservatives must prove that their cause is a full-fledged one. We must defend all that we are fully entitled to, and not let an oppressive government seize our endowed rights.

It is imperative for high school graduates and college students alike to note the threat that an increasingly powerful government poses. The naiveté found in today’s youth about the dangerous ideology they are adopting must be exposed. The mentality of “everything is free and entitled” cannot persevere in a society grounded in freedom and individualism. Communism goes against human nature, as history demonstrated, to ultimately result in the destruction of innovation, ingenuity, and competition—the driving forces that ensure a flourishing human civilization.

The Strain of Mary Jane

The mystique of marijuana is commonplace in today’s society. Known for its alluring qualities, prized value and familiar appearance, this drug is raved as one of the most popular and most heavily abused substances in the United States. Its accessibility and subsequent use has become increasingly dangerous to our country, since proximity to Mexico and other drug-exporting nations make it vulnerable to its infiltration and influence. Since the use of marijuana is the underlying problem in today’s drug-ridden society, it must therefore be eradicated.
Marijuana perpetrates the scene in the most formidable ways. Pot heads and other marijuana enthusiasts usually gain access to the drug by illegal sale and trade, or via a medical marijuana prescription. With these actions instilled, it has become largely difficult to rid of pot from the domestic marketplace. According to the Soros Monitor, which is a proponent of eliminating marijuana and other drugs, it is billionaires like, “George Soros, Peter Lewis and Jason Sperling…behind the effort to legalize drugs in this country.” They have jumped on the drug bandwagon to push for efforts like medical marijuana prescriptions to further their careers and grow their wallets to sizeable heights. It is greedy men like them, who contend that they are respectable and cultured representatives of our nation, that bring it to ruin by proliferating drugs without the concern of the American people in mind. Everyone must educate themselves of these crooked figures and their debilitating influence in our commercial affairs to prevent the amassing of drugs in our country.

The Food and Drug Administration largely contends that, “no sound scientific studies supported medical use of marijuana for treatment in the United States, and no animal or human data supported the safety or efficacy of marijuana for general medical use.” Although medical use of marijuana has not been recognized as beneficial, two pharmaceutical cannabinoids -Dronabinol and Nabilone- have been in existence and have been used to treat patients with various illnesses. If marijuana is usurped for its “medicinal worth,” the toxic byproducts produced from smoking and inhaling it will greatly outweigh its alleged curing properties. Adolescents do not find “medical marijuana” threatening because of the label it boasts, although it is still equally harmful and dangerous. The naivety in today’s youth is unparalleled to preceding years, and the fact that marijuana is advertised as ‘less harmful but rather beneficial’ will prompt them to abuse it at alarming rates. Medicine is supposed to rid society of disease, illness and other medical strife, rather than inhibit the healing and proper bodily function that marijuana is largely responsible for.

The repercussions involved in the use of pot have grave health effects. It is common for a marijuana user to experience “increased blood pressure, red eyes, dry mouth, increased heart rate, and slowed reaction time,” as reported by Web MD. From this, it is apparent that smoking pot is the farthest thing from glamorous. Long-term use can lead to depression, aggression, loss of appetite, and other similar symptoms. Pot is also notorious for being a gateway drug that once used it could lead to the use of other drugs. Basically, when under the influence of this drug, one becomes lackadaisical, careless, zoned-out, and out-of-touch with reality. The Drug Years of the 1960’s were plenty enough, and with the growing popularity of marijuana use, it would be like taking a plunge into the same avoidable abyss found in the past.

The civilization that the United States was built upon will see inevitable ruin if marijuana is legalized. Drones of druggies would terrorize the nation, infiltrate schools and create a culture stymied from laziness. All of the businesses established by determined and hard-working individuals will be undermined by profiteering drug cartels and other marijuana distributors. A leafy mascot like Mary Jane Marijuana will storm television sets in order to brainwash adolescents and younger children. It is universal that society is best handled without the proliferation of drugs. To make this a permanent facet of life, people must rise up and defend against this terrorizing agent.

Conservatism, A Manifesto

As a conservative in this day and age, I have accustomed myself to being called a “redneck,” “tea-bagger,” “domestic terrorist,” “hate-monger,” “homophobe,” “religious-nut” and every other name in the book by liberals and the media. These terms pulsate and fester in the supposedly tolerant mindset of society. Who has given such laudable people the moral authority to dub us as any of the aforementioned, you may ask? Well, it is those who espouse the lovely doctrine of limited freedom, bigger government, immorality, spreading the wealth, mediocrity, and diversity (hidden racism). Let us examine how close to the truth that labels proudly put on us really are.

William F. Buckley, Jr., the father of the modern Conservative Movement, helped pave the way for conservatism beginning in the mid-1950s. These conservative beliefs were a fusion of traditional viewpoints, acceptance of the Constitution as the law of the land, anti-Communism, and laissez-faire economics. They went on to accept patriots like Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater as emblematic leaders of their time. They were to adhere to principles grounded into our nation since its birth in 1776. They were to root out disloyalty to the nation and defend her proudly in the act of peril or aggression.

One might wonder why an 18-year-old female university student like me would hold such beliefs dear to her heart, when I could be like the goose-stepping Obamanites out there hoping for change only they can believe in. Well, I attribute my conservative upbringing to my parents, who fled the Baltic nation of Lithuania in 1985 which was under the iron grip of the Soviet bloc. Along with the harsh impositions and realities of life in the former U.S.S.R., my parents were exposed to the indoctrination of Communism and Marxist-Leninism, however the Soviets were unable coerce them into becoming the subservient Homo sapien Sovieticus this system fashioned. My parents harbored the desire to come to the United States because they wanted to experience freedom and opportunity. The idea of owning private property and enterprise, the idea of freedom of speech, and the idea of living without fear of one’s shadow came to be the image of the United States that my parents recognized and sought to experience one day. The people’s paradise that the Communists portrayed the former U.S.S.R. did not afford any opportunities or liberties found in the Western world. In the case of my mother’s father, he was held captive as a political prisoner of the Communist regime for eighteen months because he held the mere premise of land ownership. This resulted in his imprisonment in a concentration camp near the Finish border and a painful life to follow, one marked by constant fear and doubt about the world around him. Communism oppressed many people including my grandparents and parents, and as a system proved to be ineffective in light of more successful and productive systems like capitalism found in the United States of America. Human life was not valued, private property was expended, and individuality was eradicated—the future our country is to hold if this current Administration persists with this takeover of our lives, freedoms, and associations.

All conservatives have their calling to life, with mine encompassing and embodying my past. Living under the harsh impositions of Communism teaches those who grasp its dangers to be conservative-minded. My parents wanted to embrace a system that respected individual freedoms, accomplishment, merit, and opportunity, which they found in adopting the ideals bestowed upon this lifestyle by William F. Buckley, Jr. The teachings of my parents have aided me in holding values, respect, consideration for life, determination, and rationale.

The genesis of this new Conservative Movement can trace its roots back to 1951 when William F. Buckley, Jr. recognized the presence of overbearing liberalism that had taken over the university setting at his alma mater, Yale University, in his account, God and Men at Yale. These radical leaders promoted the brainwashing of the masses in the university setting, and their control over the minds of the youth metastasized at dangerous speed as it spread through the school system and university. This societal disease spread in the breeding ground of innovation. Information began to be altered according to the publishers of text books which misconstrue facts and alter the truth to fulfill the agenda of “social justice” and political correctness. Teachers and government employees are protected behind the protection of unions and tenure. They infect the masses with their rhetoric of hope and change of sharing the wealth, calling conservatives bigots, apologizing to foreign powers, and promoting social engineering within society. The fruits of their indoctrination came to a head when they proved fruitful on November 4th, 2008, leading to the election of the most radical and detrimental President and Congress, in the liberal desire to destroy the American principles and culture on which our nation was built.

Never before has the risk of “fundamental change” proven to be so instrumental for those who seek the eventual takeover or collapse of the United States. Communists and socialists are being embraced by the Democratic party and are hired to work for the President of the United States. The consequence of failing to watch and protect the conservative traditions instilled in this country permitted these individuals to push for universal health care, equal rights for animals, gay marriage, environmental fascism, destruction of manufacturing industries, global government, cult of personality, blaming our nation for acts of terrorism aboard, and accusing our troops of committing atrocities in the line of duty, among other asinine ideas. Furthermore, the failure of conservatives to operate against these destabilizing forces have demonstrated the need to reinvigorate and renew the ideals previously held by our Founding Fathers.

Yet, we conservatives need not give up tirelessly in this battle for America’s survival. The Conservative Movement is once more growing rapidly. The Tea Party Movement has captured the sentiment of the once-silent majority. Conservatives must return to the principles of the Constitution. Americans have to embrace the Judeo-Christian principles grounded in the founding of our nation, rather than tossing them aside for the non-faith of government and political correctness. Parents must educate their children about important issues and core values on which this country was built upon, rather leaving them open to the brainwashing and indoctrination in public education. Hard work and merit must be emphasized rather than feel good quotas and affirmative action. Capitalism should not be detested because of its profit motive, but rather encouraged as it has lead to the greatest advancement of human society in the history of our existence. Corruption within the government must be denounced, with our elected officials held accountable to their constituents rather than interest groups. It is pivotal to incorporate these ideas back into our society in order to relish and embrace the America we have known and cherished.

How does liberalism form however? Liberalism festers best when the family unit is destroyed or nonexistent. At a 9/12 tea party in San Juan Capistrano, California, I had the pleasure to meet and talk with foremost conservative speaker Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson—the founder of BOND, a nonprofit religious organization dedicated to “Rebuilding the Family By Rebuilding the Man.” As an African-American conservative activist, Peterson puts being an American before his race and attributes the problems of the black community to the intended destruction of the family unit fostered by progressives and Democrats. The welfare system that minorities have become dependent upon replaced the self-reliant man and father in the family, only to substitute them with the government and hand outs. He emphasized that white Americans should not feel guilty for the failures of the black community, and that they must stop feeling afraid of speaking out against these problems, while encouraging the black community to work to achieve success.

Illegal immigration is another play toy of the liberals to blame conservatives. Liberals endlessly pout about broken immigration laws and procedures, and blame businessmen and other Americans as responsible for the problems of illegal workers. However, while blaming illegal immigration on the United States, liberals also blame the United States for not helping those illegal immigrants who are already here. Unfortunately they cannot have this situation both ways. You cannot grant amnesty and citizenship to those who clearly break the law. As Americans, we have to come to realize that making illegal immigration permissible is the consequence of families and parents failing to educate their children that hard work and labor is honorable and worthy. The notion that a college education should be given to everyone, rather than facilitating a worker’s potential at a trade or vocational school creates the political and economic problem we are currently encountering and battling.

Our movement must also weed out those not genuine to the cause to prevent conservative imposters from ruining all that we have fostered. A foremost case involves elected officials posing as conservatives, namely in the Republican Party, who vote with and support our political opponents, while giving lip service to their constituents. To paraphrase Dick Armey, former House Majority Leader (R-TX) and founder of Freedom Works—an interest group invested in limited government and libertarian ideals—the Republican Party’s moderate figureheads like John McCain (R-AZ) and Lindsay Graham (R-SC) should not pose as conservatives and behave like Democrats, when Americans will always vote for the real liberals instead of voting for liberal-lite.

The Conservative Movement is strong, as demonstrated by prominent speakers like radio talk show hosts Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin, conservative commentators Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham, Fox News Channel personalities Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity, just to mention a few. These individuals work ceaselessly to defend our ideals from imposters and enemies who would like to destroy our great United States of America.

William F. Buckley, Jr. once retorted, “Truth is a demure lady, much too ladylike to knock you on your head and drag you to her cave. There she is, but people must want her, and seek her out.” In his prolific lifetime, Mr. Buckley had obligated himself to seeking the truth by espousing conservatism as his greatest tool in fending off political oppression of thought and nefarious information that predated the scene. The state-run media claims that conservatism is long dead in America, when in fact, it is merely rising from the ashes like the phoenix. Conservatives must demand the truth and the restoration of longstanding American traditions to protect the future of our great nation, the United States of America.
